ABOUT
Miss Ava’s Millinery was founded by Australian-born Kent-based milliner Sarah Blacker-Barrowman in 2014. Since then, she’s been using traditional millinery skills and tools to handcraft headpieces and veils for weddings, not to mention all manner of hats, fascinators and headwear.
With inspiration drawn from sources including her past as a cabaret performer and love of vintage fashion, Sarah’s work has become known for being distinctive and unique, yet highly wearable. With a timeless look, sometime whimsical touch, and meticulous workmanship, pieces by Miss Ava’s Millinery as designed to hopefully be the vintage of the future.

If you’re looking for headwear for your wedding that reflects your style and personality, and makes you feel fabulous when you put it on, Miss Ava’s Millinery is just what you need! Sarah offers a full bespoke service from her millinery studio in Chatham, Kent, so she can create the headwear of your dreams! Though if you can’t visit in person that’s not a problem at all as we can chat over Zoom. The bespoke process begins with an informal chat about your wedding day (or event), what you’re wearing, and of course what you’d like for your headwear. After this Sarah can draw up sketches, arrange swatches, and provide a quote for your unique headpiece or veil. You’ll be kept informed though out the process of your piece being created, and can have fittings as needed, to make sure it’s absolutely perfect for you! Miss Ava’s Millinery also has a ready-to-wear selection of hats, fascinators, veils, and hair accessories, plus pins for hats, veils or lapels. Most of these pieces are ready to send or collect, with many being one of kind pieces or able to be customised to make sure they are just right for you.
